Ranges CH Tertiary Health Scholarship 2010

Ranges Community Health in conjunction with Eastern Ranges GP Association and the Yarra Ranges Council invites residents of the Shire of Yarra Ranges to apply for one of two $3,000 Tertiary Health Scholarships and two $1,000 Encouragement awards.

Initially the scholarships have been made possible through funds received from the closure of the Lilydale Health Service and funds raised by the Ranges Community Health Belgrave Opportunity Shop.

The program is now fortunate to have the support of a sponsored Major Award from the Eastern Ranges GP Association as well as an the inclusion of a Mayoral Community Encouragement Award for 2010 sponsored by the Yarra Ranges Council.

This is a prime example of re-investing into our community health's future and enhancing capacity within the community.

The scholarships are open to current or intending students in Nursing, Medicine or other Health Science at an Australian Tertiary institution.

Following the application close date of 29th January 2010 at 4p.m., it is envisaged that interviews will take place on the 11th February, 2010 at our Lilydale site and the Scholarships will be awarded late February.

Candidates will be selected and awarded the scholarships by a Scholarship committee, primarily made up of community members from across the Shire as well as representatives from Ranges CH Board and Eastern Ranges GP Association.

An Award ceremony will be held at the end of February where there will be the official announcement of winners, presentation of cheques, a brief response from the winners, afternoon tea and photo opportunities.

Payment of the award will be made in two equal part payment amounts. The first payment will be made in February and the second payment in August (subject to evidence of satisfactory progress).
