Engaging with Families
During the past twelve months we have continued to concentrate on developing strategies to engage with the more vulnerable families in our local community.
Strategic planning included engaging with the target group by developing suitable programs and networking and partnering with key agencies. This entire process was guided through consumer involvement.

Programs developed
Two community support programs were developed - an early literacy program 'Sing and Grow' and a parenting program known as 'Raising Kids'.
|
Partnerships
Varying levels of partnerships have been
developed and continue to grow with key agencies. These have included:
** Maternal and Child Health Nurses enabling access to the target group
** Partnering with Anglicare to provide the programs 'Raising Kids'
** Salvation Army and Anchor
** Community houses to provide suitable venues for the groups, childcare workers and referral into the groups.
|
Participation
Another strategy included Ranges participation in networks to support
families e.g. Family Care Network, MOSAIC, EMR Early Years Reference Group, and Kids in Care.
|
Link-up
The consumer reference group, Link-Up, continues strongly. The members of Link-Up participated in training for consumer
advocacy and attended training at the Health Issues centre.
They provided valuable service access information to agencies such as: Parentline, Anglicare, Ranges programs and the 'Primary Care Partnership' consumer working group participant. Workers at Ranges have had access to these consumers to support program development, which has been a truly valuable asset.
Participants attended a celebration
highlighting the valuable input that
Link-Up has provided to Ranges over
the past three years.`
