Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies

The Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Program (HMHB) is a community based service providing support to pregnant women. We help pregnant women to connect to services and education. The program is not a clinical pregnancy (ante-natal) service.

The aim of the HMHB program is to improve the health and well being of mothers and their babies.

We work with Maternity, Maternal and Child Health, GPs and other specialist services you may be involved with.

Who is this for?

Pregnant women who live in the Shire of Yarra Ranges and who need additional support for a variety of reasons.

How can the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies program assist you?

We can help by working together with you on what is worrying you and helping you find a solution:

  • Help with things you need while you are pregnant- for example housing, access to food, clothing for your baby
  • Planning when you go home after the baby arrives- for example parenting support, links with playgroups
  • Emotional Support- we link you with a worker who helps you plan for the birth of your baby and after the baby arrives. We can help with referrals to professional counselling if you wish.
  • Health education- can be provided individually or in a group and may focus on smoking, nutrition, drug and alcohol use, and encouraging healthy behaviours for you and your baby.
