Health Development
Health promotion is the process of enabling people to improve their health, by increasing their control over their health, and the social, environmental and economic conditions which impact their health. It's essentially the effort to prevent disease and injury from occurring in the first place, as opposed to traditional health services, which treat disease and injury once it has occurred.
Ranges Community Health considers health promotion as a key component of core business. The service’s current practice of providing a holistic and preventative approach complements a clinical and curative approach. Ranges Community Health places importance on access, equity and consumer participation.
The Ranges Community Health’s integrated health promotion plan 2009-2012 provides strategic direction to the organisation, our partners and the community related to our priorities areas. The current integrated health promotion plan focuses on the following two priority areas:
- Promoting Accessible and Nutritious Food
- Promoting Mental Health and Wellbeing
